In 1986, entrepreneur Perry Mandera formed Custom Cares as a portal for the distribution of charitable donations to nonprofit organizations. One such organization is Ann’s Hope Foundation, which was established in 2005 by two friends who each lost a loved one to melanoma, a type of skin cancer.
Ann’s Hope Foundation will be hosting a number of events in 2013. The Ninth Annual Block Melanoma 5K Run/3K Walk will take place in Milwaukee later this year. Additionally, the organization will hold the Million Mile March, in which the charity earns one dollar for every mile walked up to 100 miles during the month of March.
This weekend, Ann’s Hope Foundation is presenting its Casino Night on February 23 at the Sheraton Hotel in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The night will include Las Vegas-style gambling, cocktails, and a live auction. Proceeds from the event will go towards expanding awareness of the seriousness of melanoma, highlighting the importance of melanoma screenings, and supporting efforts to find a cure for the disease.
