The Walter & Connie Payton Foundation, by Perry Mandera

The Walter & Connie Payton Foundation, named after a former Chicago Bears football player and his wife, helps neglected and underprivileged children. Centered in Illinois, this organization provides youths in need throughout the state with ways to believe in themselves and improve their lives.

To aid children, the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation conducts numerous events throughout the year as fundraisers and awareness builders. Every fall, it runs a back-to-school drive in which people can donate supplies to youths who are a part of the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Its holiday season toy drives collect items for more than 16,000 children annually. During the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, people can support “Team Sweetness,” the name for participants who run on behalf of the Walter & Connie Payton Foundation.
